Twenty-three terrorists were neutralized during an operation by the Turkish army in northern Iraq, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced, as quoted by Anadolu Agency.

The announcement specifies that these defeats were inflicted on the terrorists during an air operation in the Asos region, located about 140 kilometers from the Turkish border, which was announced by the Minister of Defense in Ankara, Hulusi Akar, on September 29.

"According to initial data, 23 terrorists from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were neutralized during the air operation in the Asos region. Their number is expected to increase," added the ministry, quoted by BTA.

During the operation, the Turkish military aviation hit 16 targets of the terrorists - caves, hideouts, headquarters.
