The United States has condemned Friday's coup d'état in Burkina Faso.

APA reports that this was stated in a statement released by the head of the press service of the US State Department, Ned Price.

"The United States is deeply concerned about the events in Burkina Faso. We note that for the second time in eight months, the military has announced the dismissal of the government and the National Assembly and the suspension of the constitution. We join the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The African Union and the European Union are democratically elected condemns these actions and the ongoing violence, which jeopardizes the agreed timeline for the return of civilian government," the statement said.

The United States has called on the military that seized power in Burkina Faso to ensure de-escalation, prevent harm to civilians and the military, and restore constitutional order.

It should be recalled that on September 30, a military group seized power in Burkina Faso by carrying out a coup d'état and removed Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba from the presidency.

Artillery captain Ibrahim Traore became the new leader of the country.

He led the country's governing structure, the Patriotic Movement for Conservation and Restoration.
