Nyumbu Secondary School, Kibaha in Pwani region, the Information and Communication Technology (IT) room has been improved by being given various equipment worth Shs 17 million, including 15 calculators.

The aid has been provided by the Vodacom Tanzania Institute in collaboration with Helios Towers with the aim of helping citizens including students to get digital internet service to help them get more educational knowledge.

Speaking at the time of handing over the equipment to the school, Member of the Board of the Vodacom Tanzania Institute, Olaf Mumburi said the mission of the institute is to connect every citizen in the digital network.

He said the devices will help students get the benefits of education by increasing their knowledge through the correct use of the internet.

The equipment provided includes 15 typewriters, three lawn mowers, one television, one printer and a one-year data package totaling Shs 17 million.

He said Vodacom Tanzania Foundation has been providing IT equipment to schools since 2016 in collaboration with other stakeholders namely Samsung, Universal Communications Fund (UCSAF), African Child Projects, Tanzania Education Authority and Helios Towers.

So far, they have provided aid worth approximately Sh700 million to more than 500 schools in the country through the e-Fahamu program.

"Today we are partnering with the Helios Towers company and our partnership will benefit the students of Nyumbui Secondary to get IT education that will enable them to benefit from digital transformation and participate in the globalized world," said Mumburi.

The head of Kibaha District, Sarah Msafiri said the government is determined to continue to strengthen the quality of education and ensure that it is in line with the growth of digital transformation to ensure that education provided at all levels brings economic and social development in the country.
