The State Secretary for Asylum and Migration of the Netherlands, Erik van der Burgh, said that Russians fleeing mobilization "will definitely not be sent back."

This is reported by the NRC.

"Russians who come to the Netherlands to avoid military service in their own country will "certainly not" be sent back," Van der Burg said.

Earlier, at the end of June, the Netherlands noted that Russian conscripts who refuse to fight in Ukraine or desert will be allowed to stay in the country at least until the end of 2022.

"The key question is what will happen when they (the Russians - ed.) are sent back: will they be welcomed with open arms or will they be in danger?"

- added the official.
