Tesla has secured a deal with Samsung's electronic components unit to supply it with cameras for the brand's self-driving systems.

According to foreign media, the Telegraph reports, the agreement with Samsung Electro-Mechanics is estimated to be worth up to 4 billion dollars (3.2 billion euros).

Samsung beat LG Innotek and Primax Electronics to win the contract with Tesla, but this is not the first time the Korean electronics maker has partnered with the American automaker to produce vehicle components.

In September 2021, Samsung was also awarded a contract to supply Tesla with the next-generation Full Self-Driving 4.0 chip, and in July won a $ 436 million contract to supply camera modules for a new model. which is rumored to be Cybertruck.

LG Innotek will continue to supply 20 percent of the cameras for the system, but Samsung will supply the majority of 80 percent under the deal.

The cameras will be used in every Tesla model, namely Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and the upcoming Cybertruck.
