Maharashtra Crisis: Political crisis deepens in Maharashtra

Mumbai:

Maharashtra Updates: The political turmoil of Maharashtra has reached the Supreme Court.

The Eknath Shinde faction has raised 5 big questions in its petition alleging nexus between the Deputy Speaker and the government.

Eknath Shinde has said in the petition that the Deputy Speaker is working closely with the government.

The MVA government continues to abuse the deputy speaker to ensure that he remains in power by any means necessary.

The disqualification notice is a classic example of the government colluding with the deputy speaker to try to disqualify Shinde and other supporters in a hurry.

The first petition is of Shinde and is about disqualification proceedings, while the second petition has been filed on behalf of MLA Bharat Gogavale.

According to sources, Shinde Shivir has already sent a copy of his petition to the respondent Maharashtra government in this case to save time for notice in the court.

5 big questions in the petition of Shinde faction

1. It is illegal and unconstitutional to recognize Ajay Chaudhary as the leader of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party by the Deputy Speaker.

The Speaker's post has been vacant since Nana Patole resigned from the post in February 2021.

The Deputy Speaker has no power to decide the disqualification petition.

It is common knowledge that the present government in the state has lost majority in the house.

38 members of Shiv Sena Legislature Party have withdrawn their support.

This is below the majority in the House.

2. Shinde has cited NDTV's news on Sanjay Raut's alleged threats to MLAs.

At the same time, it has been said in the petition of 15 rebel MLAs that they have not given up the membership of Shiv Sena.

The action of the Deputy Speaker is arbitrary, unjust and illegal.

The Deputy Speaker is taking action while playing in the hands of the government. The

petition also challenges the replacement of Shinde in the Legislative Assembly, with MLA Ajay Chaudhary as the leader of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party and Sunil Prabhu as the new Chief Whip.

In this, changes have been challenged in the appointments of the leader and chief whip of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party in the Legislative Assembly.

4. The Shinde camp has also challenged the appointment of Ajay Chaudhary as the leader of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party and the rejection of the no-confidence motion sent by the Independent and BJP MLAs against the Deputy Speaker.

5. Their argument is that until the decision on the proposal to remove the Deputy Speaker is taken, the court should direct the Deputy Speaker not to proceed with any action on the issue of disqualification against them.

Eknath Shinde, in his petition, said that all the 55 MLAs had proposed to appoint him as the leader of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party in 2019.

But when a resolution was passed by the Thackeray camp to remove him as the leader of the Shiv Sena legislature party, less than 35 per cent of Shiv Sena MLAs were present.
