New Delhi:

After receiving the news of a bomb in the Mahan Air flight from Tehran to China, an attempt was made to get this plane landing in India.

The Indian Air Force said in a statement that Mahan Air's aircraft was offered two options for landing in India, but it refused and continued its journey.

Fighters followed the aircraft at a safe distance.

The plane has now entered Chinese airspace.

Police said a call was received at 9:20 a.m. about a bomb threat on the flight. Following this, the Delhi airport was put on alert.

The Indian Air Force said, "The aircraft was given the option of landing at Jaipur and then Chandigarh. However, the pilot refused to land at either of the two airports."

According to the Indian Air Force statement, the plane continued its journey towards its destination in China after Tehran asked it to ignore the bomb threat.


All actions were taken by IAF as per laid down procedure jointly with Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

The aircraft was under close radar surveillance by the Air Force throughout the Indian airspace." According to a report by news agency PTI, Lahore Air Traffic Control had given inputs to the Delhi ATC on the alleged bomb threat.
