Today, the Army House in Skopje marked the Day of Military Service for Security and Intelligence, which coincides with the jubilee - 30 years of existence of this military service.

At the ceremony, the Minister of Defense, Slavjanka Petrovska, said that NATO membership represents a new chapter in the history of this service, which has an expanded volume of work and greater responsibilities.

"Membership in the Alliance is a benefit for the security and stability of the state, while on the other hand it imposes the need for the development of military capabilities and capabilities which will contribute to collective security.

"The number of people for whom we are responsible for security has increased from 2 to about 900 million", said Minister Petrovska, announced by the Ministry of Defense.

She stressed that the defense with its capacities must resolutely oppose the new security reality, even with fast and efficient activities for protection, prevention and response to these threats.

The first step towards building a secure society, Petrovska believes, is to establish a comprehensive approach to dealing with hybrid threats.

"Our obligation as a member state of the Alliance is to invest in building national resistance to these threats and to build a synchronized system for responding to them," said Minister Petrovska, adding that institutions should be coordinated and cooperate in tackling terrorism, which poses a global threat.
