JDU chief Nitish Kumar spoke to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Nitish expressed gratitude for supporting him after breaking ties with BJP.

Sources said the Congress will have "active participation" in the government formed by the RJD-led Grand Alliance and the JD(U) (JDU). 

On Tuesday, a day of fast-paced political developments, Nitish Kumar met Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan twice.

First to submit his resignation as the Chief Minister of NDA and then after being elected leader of the Grand Alliance, staked claim to form the government with the state. 

Kumar said he submitted a list of 164 MLAs to the governor, who will decide when the oath can be taken.

The effective strength of Bihar Legislative Assembly is 242 and the magic figure is 122.

Earlier in the day, the Congress had said it would support any non-BJP government in Bihar to help consolidate secular forces.

Congress has 19 MLAs in Bihar Assembly.

Let us inform that senior JDU leader Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav are going to take oath as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively today.

After breaking away from the BJP, Nitish Kumar has decided to go with the 'Mahagathbandhan' of seven parties, which includes Tejashwi Yadav's RJD and other opposition parties.
