More than 50 sacks of human remains have been found in the western state of Jalisco, Mexico, by members of a non-governmental organization that is searching for missing people, Vesti.bg reported.

The find was discovered during a search of five abandoned houses in the municipality of Tlahomulco de Suniga, near the capital of the Guadalajara region.

According to preliminary data, the remains of about 30 people who died at the hands of criminals have been found in the area.

Authorities estimate that the number of missing people in Mexico exceeded 61,000 by January 2020.

According to the Ministry of Public Security and Civil Protection, in 2021, 33,308 people became victims of violence in Mexico, which is 1,246 less than the previous year.

Half of all premeditated killings took place in six states: Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Mexico City, Michoacan, Baja California and Jalisco.
