The energy perspective of North Macedonia, the opportunities for cooperation, the world energy crisis and the deepening of cooperation and energy projects, are the focus of the meeting that began today in Athens between the prime ministers of North Macedonia and Greece, Dimitar Kovacevski and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, reports AIM .

Mitsotakis emphasized that today they have a lot of work to discuss and reiterated Greek support for the country's path to the EU, but also regarding the energy crisis, while also saying that it is in the interest of both countries to promote investments.

Prime Minister Kovacevski was thanked for Greece's support for the start of North Macedonia's negotiations with the European Union, stressing that the two neighboring countries are an example of good relations not only for the region, but also for the world.

The Government of North Macedonia informed that the two prime ministers found that regional cooperation is of great importance with special emphasis on the importance of cooperation in the energy sector, for which they agreed that it has great potential, if joint projects for the construction of terminal for liquefied petroleum gas (LNG) in Alexandroupoli, as well as gas interconnection between the two countries.

The Prime Ministers confirmed the commitments in accordance with the plans, until the middle of 2024 at the latest, to have a gas supply from Greece and concluded that strategic projects are of great importance for long-term energy independence for a stable and permanent supply of liquefied gas in times of crisis.
