The Ministry of Foreign Affairs fully supports the work of the Commission for Historical and Educational Affairs with the Republic of Bulgaria and welcomes yesterday's publication of the recommendations, which are part of the Protocol signed between the two countries in 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

"Presenting the results of their work, the members of the Commission and its Chairman identified some principles that are also important from a political point of view.

First, that the work of the Commission, the content in which it works, is completely autonomous, essentially expert and professional, protected from any kind of political influence.

This prerequisite also lies in the principles of the Protocol signed between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs and represents one of the key principles that ensures professionalism and authentic expertise in the Commission's work.

Secondly, the presented results of the Commission's work preserve the principle of reciprocity for both countries, which is one of the essential elements for building trust and mutual respect, this principle is also observed in the content of the Protocol signed between the two countries. places.

Thirdly, with the published results, the Commission showed that with a bold, but professional and honest approach, historians can find worthy and authentic solutions, based on historical truths that are supported by facts and that provide opportunities for recording shared historical events, overcoming differences and creating a basis for building a common sustainable future between the two countries", say the MFA.

The Commission for Historical and Educational Affairs with Bulgaria, added the MFA, will continue to have the full support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially in terms of support for autonomy in its work.
