The spokesperson of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security, Nabila Massrali, has reacted after the recent declarations of the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia, about a new armed conflict.

Massrali considers these statements to be disturbing, demanding that such actions be stopped immediately.

"The recent increase in inflammatory rhetoric between the officials of Kosovo and Serbia, in particular the declarations of war and conflict in the Western Balkans are worrying.

Both sides must immediately end mutual hostilities," Massrali wrote on Twitter.

The President of Serbia, Akeksander Vučić, said that there is information about plans that the "liquidation of our people" is being prepared in the north of Kosovo, referring to the Serbian population living in Kosovo.

A day after this statement, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that when officials in Belgrade, including the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, talk about violence and murder in Kosovo, they talk about themselves, "they talk about their imagination and thoughts."

"We should not rule out that these aggressive policies of Belgrade could also turn into an attack against Kosovo in one way or another," Kurti told Reuters, speaking in English.

"We are alert, but not afraid," Kurti had said.

In this regard, on August 17, the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, will hold separate meetings in Brussels with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

On August 18, the meeting of the two leaders will take place under the mediation of the European Union.

This meeting was called after the increase in tensions in the north of Kosovo, related to the two decisions of the Government of Kosovo regarding Serbian license plates and documents./Telegrafi/
