Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

According to APA's Istanbul correspondent, the Presidential Administration of Turkey has released information about this.

It was noted that the two leaders discussed the latest events related to the Russian-Ukrainian war.

During the conversation, President Erdoğan expressed his satisfaction with the successful completion of the prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, which they have been working on for a long time, and with the operation of the Istanbul agreement signed with the support of the United Nations.

In addition, he said that there are common interests in the extension of the agreement on grain transportation, which will end in November.

The President of Turkey said that work is underway on the continuous export of Russian fertilizers and grain products.

President Erdoğan said that it is important to take steps to reduce tension in order to pave the way for more positive progress.

The Turkish leader emphasized that he expects Vladimir Putin to take steps that will facilitate the integration of some regions of Ukraine with Russia.

Erdogan asked Russian President Putin to give a chance to the negotiations and noted that they are ready to play a facilitating role in this process.
