The European Commission predicts a slowdown in economic growth in Greece, the electronic edition of the Greek newspaper Imerisia reported.

According to the EC's spring forecast, economic growth this year will be 3.5 percent.

On February 10, before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the commission forecast economic growth of 4.5 percent.

There is also a change in the inflation forecast.

The EC already expects inflation in Greece to reach 6.3 percent against the original 3.1 percent projected in February.

For the next year the forecast is for growth of 3.1 percent.

The report notes that economic growth will remain stable despite the impact of the war in Ukraine, with the tourism sector expected to recover to pre-pandemic levels by 2023.

Last week, Greece's national statistical office, ELSTAT, said inflation reached 10.2 per cent in April from 8.9 per cent in March.

The last time double-digit inflation - 10 percent - was registered in February 1995. In January of the same year it was 10.7 percent.

The inflation rate in April 2022 is identical to that of April 1994 - 10.2 percent.
