Over 11 lakh candidates have registered for the first edition of CUET.

University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Jagdish Kumar had announced in March that CUET scores and not class 12th marks would be mandatory for admission to 45 central universities.

However, central universities may fix their own minimum eligibility criteria.

He had also made it clear that the students of state boards will not face any disadvantage in the undergraduate admission process and the exam will not promote coaching culture.

A total of 44 Central Universities, 12 State Universities, 11 Deemed Universities and 19 Private Universities have applied to participate in the first edition of CUET for UG admission in the academic session 2022-23.

According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is responsible for conducting the exam, CUET will provide a single-window opportunity to students seeking admission in any central university across the country.

This exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

The exam will be conducted in 13 languages namely Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi and Urdu.
