Central universities begin the process of admission to various undergraduate courses

New Delhi:

The major central universities of Delhi have started the process to enroll students in various undergraduate courses.

This year, the admission process in universities has changed as they have adopted the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to undergraduate courses.

Delhi University (DU) earlier used to admit students on the basis of class 12th marks and Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University had separate entrance exams for admission to undergraduate courses.

From this year, admission is being done on the basis of CUET UG examination in other universities including Central Universities across the country.

Leaving the age-old practice of admitting students, universities have partially or fully adopted CUET from the academic session 2022-23.

This year admission is being done in 79 undergraduate courses in 67 colleges, departments and centres.

DU on September 12 launched the portal for admission through CUET in its undergraduate courses for the academic year 2022-23.

Admission in DU

The admission process which started from 12th September is being conducted in three phases.

In the first stage the students have to apply to the university, in the second stage the students have to fill the preference and the third stage is the process of seat allotment-cum-admission.

At present, the process is going on under the second and third phases.

The first phase started on 12 September and the second phase on 26 September.

However, both the phases will run till October 10.

CUET score is required in the second stage.

After the completion of the Preference Filling Phase (Phase II), the University will release a tentative list of probable allotments based on the CSAS-2022 Allocation Policy.

Admission in JNU

JNU had started the registration process on September 28 for admission to its undergraduate courses through CUET.

The registration process will end on October 12.

University officials had said that the first merit list for admission would be published on October 17 while the second list would be released on October 22.

The third list will be announced on October 27.

At the same time, the first semester of undergraduate students in JNU will start from November 7.

Admission in Jamia

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is offering admission to only 10 undergraduate courses through CUET, unlike Delhi University.

In August, Jamia launched a registration portal for candidates seeking admission to these courses.

The registration process ended last week.

A university official said that the university is planning to announce the merit list next week.
