All reports of burials in

Izyum

must be thoroughly investigated to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

This was stated by UN Secretary General António Guterres at the meeting of the Security Council.

"The latest reports of burial sites in Izyum are extremely disturbing. All these reports must be thoroughly investigated to ensure that they are brought to justice. Those responsible must be held accountable through fair and independent trials. The victims and their loved ones have a right to justice, protection and reparation," Guterres said.

The Secretary General also emphasized that it is necessary to put an end to impunity for the commission of international crimes.

"In all these parameters, the International Criminal Court plays an important role to ensure effective prosecution," Guterres said.

He also expressed concern about the organization of so-called referendums in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

"Any annexation of a state's territory by another state through the threat of force or the use of force is a violation of the UN Charter and international law," added the Secretary General.

Guterres added that he does not see any signs of Russia ending the war against Ukraine.

"Recent events are dangerous and disturbing. They are moving us away from any prospect of peace and closer to an endless cycle of horror and carnage. This senseless war could cause immeasurable damage in Ukraine and around the world. The once unthinkable possibility of nuclear conflict has become a matter of debate. All nations , possessing nuclear weapons, must confirm their commitment to the non-use and complete elimination of nuclear weapons," the Secretary General emphasized.

We will remind that the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba

, emphasized at the UN the importance of providing Ukraine with the necessary weapons

and holding Russia accountable.
