Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andrii Melnyk explained his rather sharp and emotional rhetoric towards other states, which he has followed since the beginning of the full-scale war.

The diplomat told about this on the air "1+1" as part of the telethon "Edyny Novyni".

He explained that the purpose of such a style is to clearly define Ukraine's position "and to demand their support from our partners and friends."

"

This terrible war

shifted all the emphasis for Ukrainian diplomacy as well. When all possible types of weapons are so brutally used against your people, when they destroy the civilian population, destroy the country, I think that

any diplomatic bows lose their meaning.

That is why our President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, and Minister Dmytro Kuleba, and a large part of the diplomatic corps simply began to act differently," Melnyk said.

At the same time, he noted that this does not mean "that we are not polite people."

"The main goal of such a new style, in my opinion, is precisely to define one's position without unnecessary abbreviations and words and to demand their support from our partners and friends. And

this support should be today, now, and not someday

. this is the whole meaning of this new diplomacy," explained the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany.

"It doesn't always work, but it seems to me that at least in Germany we managed to reach not only the heads, the leadership, but also the hearts of German society," he added.

It will be recalled that in May, Melnyk expressed indignation at the speed of military aid to Ukraine from Germany.

The diplomat compared this speed to a snail with a bullet attached to its back.

And in June, the Ukrainian ambassador turned to the chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, asking why he was hesitating to provide heavy weapons.

At the same time, Melnyk emphasized that "Ukraine in Donbas is bleeding before your eyes."
