Apple's Make-in-India plan, one in four iPhones aims to be made in India

American technology company Apple plans to manufacture 5 million iPhones in the next two to three years. This will be 25 percent of its total annual construction. That is, a quarter of the iPhones used in the world will be manufactured in India. This information is given in a report by the US newspaper The Wall Street Journal. According to the report, Apple currently manufactures 20 million iPhones annually. Most of which is manufactured in China.

New plants being set up in Bengaluru and Chennai

However, in the last few years, this picture has started changing and now India's share in this construction has also started increasing. Actually, currently it is about 5 percent. Apple is constantly promoting its manufacturing capabilities in India. Taiwanese companies Foxconn and Pegatron that manufacture Apple make iPhones in India. These companies are setting up their new plants in Bengaluru and Chennai and now the Tata Group has also come forward in this construction area.

In fact, the Tata Group recently acquired another Taiwanese company Wistron's iPhone plant in Bengaluru. According to a Bloomberg report, the Tata Group is now planning to build a large iPhone assembly plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. There will be 20 iPhone assembly lines. Apart from this, 50,000 people will be given employment within the next two years. This plant is targeted to be operational in the next one to one and a half years. The move will strengthen Apple's partnership with Tata, which already has an iPhone factory in Karnataka.

Let us know that in the last few years, Apple is gradually increasing its dependence on India. According to a Bloomberg report, in the last financial year, the company assembled iPhones worth more than $7 billion in India, which accounted for about 7% of the device's production. At the same time, India-made iPhones were also introduced on the first day of global sales this year.
