Wall Street's main indexes opened higher in today's trade as investors showed optimism about possible interest rate cuts by the U.S. Federal Reserve early next year after ADP data on private sector employment showed further signs of a cooling labor market.

Industrial Dow Jones rose 59.17 points, or 0.16 percent, to 36,183.73 points.

Wall Street falls in anticipation of a series of new economic data

The broader Standard & Poor's 500 rose 19.05 points, or 0.42 percent, to 4586,23.<> points.

Tech Nasdaq gained 95.71 points, or 0.67 percent, to 14,325.62 points.
