Oleg Ustenko, an economist and adviser to the President of Ukraine on economic issues, spoke about whether Ukrainians should worry about inflation on the air of the national telethon.
"I think that everything related to inflation, the level of deficit that exists in Ukraine (and this is about 30% of our gross domestic product) – you cannot cover it simply by printing funds. And this is understood by the National Bank, and the National Bank would never agree to this... I am sure with a high degree of probability that this mechanism will not be applied in Ukraine... This is impossible, and plus, we still have our allies and partners, who have repeatedly stated their support in all areas, including financial. Yes, this is a nervous situation, but I am sure that it will be resolved in one way or another," the expert said.
To recap, the Office of the President announced the benefits of a "light" devaluation of the hryvnia: what does it mean.
