Declining trend in the stock market

The 30-share BSE index Sensex fell 97.18 points to 65,697.55 in early trade on Monday amid sustained foreign fund outflows. The Nifty fell 15.3 points to 19,716.50. Top losers in the Sensex pack included M&M, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, L&T, Bajaj Finance and UltraTech Cement. Top gainers in the Sensex pack included HCL Technologies, NTPC, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, SBI and Power Grid.

Elsewhere in Asia, South Korea's Kospi, China's Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng ended with gains, while Japan's Nikkei ended lower. The US markets closed with a slight increase on Friday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.69 per cent higher at USD 81.17 per barrel. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 477.76 crore on Friday, according to exchange data.
