GEITA: The Geita Gold Refinery (GGR) owned by Tanzanian investor Sarah Masasi has placed Tanzania in the global gold refining market.

This was said by Mining Minister Anthony Mavunde on September 25, 2023 in Geita after visiting and speaking with the investor and workers of the GGR gold refinery.

Mavunde said the move was made after the factory obtained a certification.

(ISO Certification) of five types compared to a large mining refinery that does not have all those ISOs.

In addition, Mavunde has instructed a team of experts including experts from the Bank of Tanzania, the Ministry of Mines, representatives of small miners and refinery owners to prepare a report that will explain how best to access raw materials and BoT's participation in helping small miners produce gold to be delivered to the factories.
