DAR ES SALAAM: Minister of Industry and Trade Dr Ashatu Kijaji today 18 September 2023 visited the Tanzania Standards Agency (TBS) as a continuation of his commitment to visiting all institutions under the ministry.

During the visit, the minister reviewed the agency's performance while also monitoring the implementation of the budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year that began in July 2023.

The visit coincided with visits to 4 of the 9 labs, including the food, skin, textile and chemistry labs.

Dr Ashatu Kijaji is satisfied with the work of the organisation and has seen the various challenges and advised them to work with other institutions to simplify their work and ensure quality, efficiency and safety for the user.

However, he called on importers to ensure they are inspected to protect the health of Tanzanians, and local industrialists to ensure products are inspected by TBS before use.

TBS Acting Director General Lazarus Msasalanga said the visit has been beneficial to them because the challenges the Minister has seen will be easy to solve.
