"Rose oil has been the Bulgarian business card all over the world for decades and this is due to the centuries-old traditions in the cultivation and processing of roses." This was commented by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Todor Djikov in Kazanlak at the Rose Festival.

The event is celebrated for the 120th time, the ministry said.

"Bulgaria is known for the high quality of rose oil, which is unsurpassed worldwide, thanks to the work of its farmers," added Djikov. The Deputy Minister pointed out that nearly 3000,30 farmers have been registered in the sector, who every year in the campaign for the harvesting of pink blossoms and lavender provide seasonal employment to about <>,<> pickers.

"I hope the harvest is good and surpasses the 8.6m euros sold last year. tons of pink blossoms," Djikov commented.

The Deputy Minister discussed with Mayor Galina Stoyanova Bulgaria's position on the European regulation, which also affects the production of essential oils. Todor Djikov said that the Ministry of Agriculture strongly supports Bulgarian rose producers and processors and has taken all necessary steps to protect the product, which is a symbol of Bulgaria.
