The number of nights spent in accommodation establishments in the Kyustendil region has increased significantly, the Territorial Bureau of Statistics announced, citing information for March this year. But for other periods, too, indicators show a significant increase in tourists, BNR reported.

The registered overnight tourists for this month are 15 704, which is 53.6% more than in the same month of the previous year. Bulgarian citizens spent 14,554 nights and foreign citizens - 1150,<>.

Revenues from nights spent in March reached 1 036.4 thousand. left. In the district there were 69 establishments with more than 10 beds - hotels, motels, chalets and other places for short-term accommodation, with 1 048 rooms and 2 367 beds in them.

The region is becoming an increasingly preferred tourist destination. Especially Sapareva Banya, where there are registered 124 guest houses, 5-6 hotels, several holiday and tourist bases.

In many villages are open guest houses and private hotels. In the district town of Kyustendil, where tourist tax revenues have tripled in May, it is difficult to find a place to stay in hotels and bases. Everything is reserved especially now that the city is cooking its traditional Cherry Festival, scheduled for June 22, 23 and 24.
