In the previous trading session, the rupee had settled at 82.40 against the US dollar.

The Indian rupee appreciated by 2 paise to 10.82 against the US dollar during early trading at the interbank foreign exchange market on June 30. The rupee has gained value amid the weakening of the dollar abroad and a positive trend in the domestic stock markets.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (forex) market, the rupee opened at 82.31 against the US dollar and then rose by 10 paise to 82.30 against the US dollar.

In the previous trading session, the rupee had settled at 82.40 against the US dollar.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.08 per cent to 103.47. Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose 0.65 per cent to USD 74.76 per barrel.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 71.07 crore on Thursday, according to exchange data.
