Stock market closes with gains
Mumbai:The domestic stock markets continued to rise for the fourth consecutive trading session on Tuesday and the BSE Sensex gained about 123 points. Sustained buying by foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and positive cues from other Asian markets helped the local market. The 122-share index ended 75.0 points or 20.62 per cent higher at 969,13.189. During the day, it soared 74.63 points to 036,12.<>.
Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty rose 35.20 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 18,633.85.
Top gainers in the Sensex pack included ITC, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, HCL Technologies, Wipro, UltraTech Cement, Maruti and Infosys.
On the other hand, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, Nestle, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Motors and Titan were among the losers. Elsewhere in Asia, Korea's Kospi, Japan's Nikkei, China's Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng ended with gains.
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the capital market as they purchased shares worth Rs 1,758.16 crore on Monday, according to exchange data. Meanwhile, the global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 2.30 per cent lower at USD 75.30 per barrel.
