The stock market closed sharply.

On the last trading day of the week, the market took a bullish stop in the evening after a day's fluctuations. Both Sensex and Nifty ended with gains of about one per cent. The Sensex gained 629 points to close at 62501, while the Nifty closed 178 points higher at 18499. The Sensex gained 1.02 per cent, while the Nifty gained 0.97 per cent.

During trading in the market, trading in major stock markets continued to rise amid fresh buying in large stocks like Reliance Industries, buying of foreign funds and positive trend in major global markets.
During this morning, the 30-share BSE Sensex rose 178.34 points to 62,050.96. The NSE Nifty rose 51.1 points to 18,372.25.

Top gainers in the Sensex pack included Reliance Industries, Tech Mahindra, Maruti, UltraTech Cement, Wipro, Bajaj Finserv, HUL, Infosys, Titan and SBI.

On the other hand, Power Grid, HDFC, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank declined.
