This year, the price of vegetables rose significantly in Ukrainian markets and stores this spring.

The increase

in prices

is caused not only by seasonality, but also by the energy crisis and the occupation.

Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, stated this on TV

According to him, prices will decrease with the appearance of a new harvest.

Right now, Ukraine is passing the peak of vegetable prices.

"Two more factors were added to the price. The energy crisis created by the aggressor country prevented the preservation of a large part of the harvest. The second - many vegetables, primarily onions and carrots, were grown in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. Due to the occupation, vegetables were not available to the Ukrainian consumer ", - emphasized the representative of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

Vysotskyi emphasized that this year farmers plan to increase the sown area for onions, carrots and other vegetables.

That is why a bigger harvest is expected.

In addition, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy is working on price stabilization.

According to Vysotskyi, this should be done not through regulation or restrictions, but through market mechanisms.

We will remind, on the eve of Easter, Ukrainians will begin to buy meat more actively, which will provoke an increase in prices in the range of 5-7%.

On the eve of the Easter holidays, the price of eggs increases by another 5-7%.

The upward trend in prices

will continue at least until the end of the Easter holidays.
