Provision of additional medical teams during the summer active season along the Northern and Southern Black Sea coasts.

This was agreed upon at a meeting between the Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov and the Minister of Health Dr. Asen Medzhidiev.

The initiative is carried out jointly with the cooperation of the local authority on the Black Sea and the academic community in the maritime cities.

Minister Medzhidiev specified that the issue of providing quality medical care during the summer tourist season was discussed with the regional governor of Burgas Prof. Maria Neikova, with the mayor of the city Dimitar Nikolov, as well as with the mayors of the small settlements along the Bulgarian coast.

The topic was also discussed with the rectors of the medical universities in Varna and Burgas, as well as with the directors of the "Pirogov" emergency aid institute and the "St.

Marina" - Varna.

Minister Dimitrov thanked Dr. Medjidiev for his cooperation and good partnership, as well as for his understanding of the processes in tourism.

Bulgaria received the prize "Best destination for the Balkan region" for 2023.

"Security and good health care are the basis of the development of the quality tourist service", pointed out Minister Dimitrov.

The Ministry of Health is making huge efforts to provide medical care in remote and small settlements.

Our cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism helps enormously in the implementation of this activity, as we try to cover all the resorts because of the additional load on the system with tourists during the active season, Minister Medzhidiev explained.

Securing additional teams was one of the first steps taken by the cabinet when it took office last summer.

At the beginning of August, ten emergency medical teams were dispatched to the village.
