[Reporter Liao Jianing/Taipei Report] In response to the concerns of Chinese food companies that China will block imports of products marked with the name of origin, Xu Shubo, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, said that after going to China this month to negotiate with the local customs, it was confirmed that the products exported to China can be marked with "Taiwan" as the country of origin.
After the US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan in August last year, China raided and issued a ban on Taiwan’s food, agricultural and fishery products, and then required documents related to products exported to China to be marked with “Taiwan, China” .

In addition, in December last year, the General Administration of Customs of China suspended the import of many Taiwanese agricultural, fishery and aquatic products, wine, beverages and other processed food companies on the grounds that the registration information was incomplete.
The General Chamber of Commerce today held a press conference for the return to Taiwan of the economic and trade exchange delegation to China in March. Xu Shubo said that last year Taiwan’s agricultural, fishery and food products were banned from import by China, or the customs were delayed due to registration issues, which had a great impact on Taiwanese farmers, fishermen and food companies. The General Administration of Customs of China replied that it will inform the detailed reasons for the inconsistencies in the registration information, so that the industry can make up for it.
As for the labeling of the country of origin on the outer packaging, Xu Shubo said that the customs regulations in various parts of China are inconsistent, resulting in unsmooth customs clearance. The General Administration of Customs of China also responded that on the issue of labeling the country of origin, "Taiwan" can be directly marked, and the port regulations in various regions will be implemented consistently.
