[Reporter Xu Ziling/Taipei Report] The Digital Department held the second round of dialogue meeting between the news industry and large digital platforms yesterday to assist the two sides in further exchanges on the co-prosperity plan proposed by the digital platforms.

The Ministry of Digital pointed out that the news industry and digital platforms reached two consensuses during the meeting: First, both sides agree that promoting a sound news industry environment is conducive to promoting a democratic society, and both parties should pursue mutual prosperity and win-win results.

Second, representatives of the news industry affirmed Google’s efforts to entrust DTA to implement the co-prosperity plan, and called on all walks of life to pay attention to the current difficulties and demands of the news industry; and the co-prosperity fund will pay attention to the demands of the news industry when it is implemented.

However, the two sides still disagree on profit sharing. The news industry advocates that digital platforms use media content collection to make profits, and that they should pay a reasonable fee to share the profits; although they affirm Google’s efforts to entrust DTA to implement the media co-prosperity plan, but when implementing the plan Therefore, more attention should be paid to the current difficulties and demands of the media, and at the same time, it is hoped that the government departments will speed up the progress of legislation and integrate the opinions of all parties in various ways.

Google reiterated that it does not use the content produced by the news media to make money, but provides free links to bring valuable traffic to the websites of journalists and help them increase opportunities to reach Internet users; Google believes that 300 million yuan in three years The Co-Prosperity Fund is currently the most practical solution to respond to the needs of the news industry, and it is also a practice that is beneficial to Taiwan's news industry and the public interest.
