The caretaker government is trying to wash its hands of its inaction in the last two months by pushing the ball and, after much deliberation, found that it is not legally possible. A ceiling on the markup is the worst possible solution because it is a palliative measure. This was stated by the former Deputy Minister of Economy Dimitar Margaritov in the studio of "The Day ON AIR".
"The introduction of a ceiling on the markup, even if only up to 10%, will open up the possibility of raising prices by another 5%, without having a problem to prove documentarily that the markup is that," said Margaritov.
"We see a game, a nothing, which creates the conditions to blame the people who will enter the next parliament, for the decisions they will make. Over 80% of Bulgarians are already reducing their consumption because they cannot afford basic necessities . There is serious public pressure that will continue to escalate. It is mainly due to the fact that since February it has been explaining about measures, things that are going to be done. We have gone through all kinds of variations. Finally we have a site that has information known from last year," the former head of the KZP told Bulgaria ON AIR.
Minister Stoyanov: The purpose of the site is not to reduce prices, but to show what the trends are
"Some may look at the price levels and this will stimulate them to raise prices if it turns out that their prices are below average," Margaritov expressed concern.
According to him, it will not have the desired effect, but it can lead to another effect - to arrive at complete chaos on the market.
"A working solution could be found. This is what the different models show," the guest believes.
"If the government had held the dialogue that was announced in October last year and reached a similar to the French model - negotiating a certain product group of goods, something similar could have been obtained. A price ceiling could have been introduced in this way." Margaritov explained.
He expressed hope for a factor that would analyze the problems and offer workable proposals.
