[Financial Channel/Comprehensive Report] Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Friday (24th) that the "personal side benefit" of banning social media app TikTok from government devices is that his children will no longer be able to access the platform.

Canada banned TikTok in February, citing privacy and security risks.

Reuters quoted Trudeau as saying: "Our concerns about TikTok are about the security and access to information that the Chinese government may have obtained through government mobile phones, and my children can no longer use TikTok, which is an added benefit to individuals."

Trudeau has three children, two of whom are teenagers.

He said, "I am concerned about the privacy and safety of the children, which is why I am glad that their mobile phones will no longer be able to access TikTok."

Trudeau made the statement at a joint news conference with U.S. President Joe Biden.

There are also growing calls in the United States to ban TikTok.

On March 6, the White House gave government agencies 30 days to ensure they would not install TikTok on federal devices and systems.
