"Whenever there are problems with the finances of the budget, the easiest solution is to raise the excise taxes. Let's see what will happen with all these measures. Practically, what will happen? oil gas and an increase in the VAT for methane. In numbers - 0.18 cents of excise duty for propane-butane, 6 cents of VAT - that makes 24 cents per liter," commented the chief lawyer of the Bulgarian Oil and Gas Association Svetoslav Benchev in the program " The day ON AIR".

According to him, in relation to propane-butane, about 110 million per year will enter the treasury.

"This will affect the consumers, these are usually the poorer ones. It is better to keep this zero excise tax. On the other hand, fuel prices have stabilized," Benchev also said.

He emphasized to Bulgaria ON AIR that the market has accepted the war as a normal given for several months.

Oil prices are falling

"The dollar is getting cheaper, which means an increase in the price of crude oil. The prices of 85 dollars for a barrel of Brent are relatively normal. I expect them to hold because there are no factors that will raise the price. The problem will rather come in the fall or winter, if it it's cold," thinks the guest.

Benchev also commented on the regulation on emissions trading in transport and buildings, according to him, it will become clear within days.

"A general piece of legislation that will enable the Commission to develop a comprehensive scheme. It will be something similar to the emissions trading scheme for coal plants. The bad thing is that it will not start with free allowances and that will affect the market." he pointed out and expressed concern that the state does not have a strategy for what we will do in transport in the coming years.

"I hope we will get some kind of derogation from the implementation of this scheme. The other legal acts that are being prepared are to find the best way for them to work for the Bulgarian economy. There is not even a written strategy for the Transport sector. For three years we suggest that we tell the ministries what our opinion is. This is the situation," explained the chief legal officer of the Bulgarian Oil and Gas Association.
