The promotion of Bulgaria as a tourist destination on the Turkish market is one of the priorities of the current official leadership of the Ministry of Tourism.

This was stated by Deputy Minister Prof. Mariela Modeva at the opening of the Bulgarian-Turkish business forum with bilateral meetings, which was held today in Burgas on the initiative of the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IANMSP), the press center of the Ministry of Tourism announced .

The event is a kind of continuation of the visit of the Minister of Tourism Dr. Ilin Dimitrov to Istanbul at the International Business and Investment Forum "Bulgaria: Investment Destination", which was organized by the Bulgarian Investment Agency (BAI) at MIR at the end of January 2023.

The Minister of Innovation and Growth, Alexander Pulev, and the Minister of Health, Dr. Asen Medzhidiev, and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, Dr. Cetin Ali Dönmez, also participated in it.

"Turkey is our priority partner in the sector, and the importance of our bilateral relations will become more and more tangible against the background of current challenges.

The country has consistently been in the top three in terms of tourist traffic in Bulgaria in recent years.

These statistics clearly show that the market has very serious dynamics, but it is important to note that there is still a serious potential for development," said Prof. Modeva.

In her speech, she singled out the recent opening of a direct flight connection between Istanbul and Plovdiv as an extremely important step in the direction of improving connectivity between the two countries.

Bulgaria must use even more successfully the logistical possibilities provided by the proximity of the metropolis Istanbul, stressed Prof. Modeva.

Bulgarian and Turkish companies from information and communication technologies, digital healthcare and technologies, as well as innovative and start-up companies from all sectors of the economy participated in the forum, which was held in the Congress Center in Burgas.
