The strike began with a press conference, and then the trucks headed for Warsaw.

The trucks did not enter the Polish capital, but simply drove around it on the district road, reports Mostmedia.

What do the strikers demand?

The main reason for the strike is the dissatisfaction of Polish carriers with the fact that they are being pushed out of the market by Belarusian and Russian carriers.

The organizers of the strike have four demands:

  • Blocking the entry of Russian and Belarusian trucks into Poland.

  • Ban on registration of companies with Belarusian and Russian capital in Poland.

  • Introduction of responsibility of the consignor for payment of services of the transport company.

  • Restoration of permits for Ukrainian carriers for two-way transportation.

The protesters will submit their demands to the government, and they will give 14 days to fulfill them:

"If there is no response, we will not stop at the warning strike," the organizers of the strike comment.

Not everyone supported the strike

The transporters' strike, organized by a coalition of conservative political parties, is not approved by all representatives of the transport industry in Poland.

The president of the TLP association

Maciej Wronski

said that the action organized by transporters from Eastern Poland does not deserve to be promoted in the public sphere.

"I am humanly ashamed.

I am ashamed of my fellow carriers, who do not understand that people are dying in Ukraine, a neighboring country is collapsing, and its defenders are stopping Russian aggression.

Aggression, which, if not for their struggle, could have spread to Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in a few years," he added.

The president of TLP added that he does not understand the ban or obstacles for Belarusians to open a business in Poland.

"During the last rigged presidential election, they showed that as a nation they are on the side of democracy.

Of course, they must act in accordance with Polish law, just like Polish carriers.

And here comes the role of the Polish inspection services, which must ensure that the law is followed.

Both in companies with Polish and Belarusian capital," he said.
