The Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy of the National Council

of Switzerland

proposed to the country's government to submit to parliamentarians a program to support Ukraine worth at least 5 billion Swiss francs.

This is stated in a message on

the website

of the Parliament of Switzerland.

The message indicates that the members of the committee got acquainted with the events taking place in Ukraine, in particular in the humanitarian and security spheres.

"As part of this exchange of views, the committee adopted a proposal that obliges the Federal Council to submit to the parliament a support program for Ukraine in the amount of at least five billion Swiss francs," the message reads.

Most of the committee members expressed confidence that Ukraine needs significant financial assistance in the humanitarian sphere, protection of the civilian population, demining of territories, strengthening of civil infrastructure and peace building.

We will remind, earlier it was reported that the President of Switzerland, Alain Berse,

supported the cynical ban on the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

He said that their military equipment "should not be used in wars"

In addition, we previously reported that Switzerland is scrapping missiles for the Rapier air defense systems

that were purchased in the 1980s.

Such a decision caused a lot of controversy, as Ukraine could use them to protect its infrastructure
