Honda is recalling 500,000 vehicles in the US and Canada to fix a problem with their seat belts, the Associated Press reported.

The recall covers some of the Japanese manufacturer's best-selling models, including the 2017-2020 CR-V, the 2018 and 2029 Accord, and the Odyssey ), from 2020 and "Insight" (Insight), from 2019.

Honda is also recalling the Acura RDX crossovers produced in 2019 and 2020.

The vehicles are being recalled because their front seat belts may not fasten properly, according to documents provided to U.S. authorities by Honda and released by them today.

The quality of the surface finish of the seat belt buckle channels may deteriorate over time.

Because of this, their unfastening buttons may shrink at lower temperatures.

This can prevent seat belts from being fastened, increasing the risk to the vehicle driver and passengers in the event of a crash.

Honda said no injuries were reported due to the seat belt issue.
