Little growth on share market

Mumbai:

A rise in Asian stock markets and fresh buying in IT stocks led to gains in major stock indices in early trade on Wednesday.

During this, the BSE Sensex rose by 278.77 points to reach 59,240.89.

The NSE Nifty was up 83.4 points at 17,387.35.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, HCL Technologies, Axis Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, Maruti Suzuki, Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Finserv, Tech Mahindra, SBI, Tata Motors and Bajaj Finance were among the major gainers on the Sensex.

On the other hand, Power Grid, HDFC Bank, Nestle and Hindustan Unilever declined.

In other Asian markets, the markets of Japan, China and Hong Kong were trading in the green mark.

US markets closed down on Tuesday.

According to stock market data, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 4,559.21 crore on a net basis on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 1.75 percent to $83.89 per barrel.
