In Poland, the number of employed truck drivers from Belarus is growing rapidly, and in 2022, their inflow will noticeably accelerate.

The figures are provided by the Polish profile website 40ton.net with reference to the report of the Main Road Transport Inspectorate of Poland.

Statistics record the number of driver's licenses issued - all foreigners from countries outside the EU must receive such a document in order to be employed as an international driver by Polish carriers.

In 2022, Belarusians received 36,649 driver's licenses in Poland.

This is much more than a year ago: in 2021, 22,378 such documents were issued to Belarusian citizens. And a year earlier, in 2020, there were 15,307 of them.

At the same time, Belarusian truck drivers are catching up with Ukrainians in terms of numbers.

So, in 2022, Ukrainian drivers received 59,108 licenses in Poland, that is, for one new truck driver from Belarus, there were 1.6 from Ukraine.

In 2021, when Ukrainians received 60,960 certificates, the ratio was 1 to 2.7, and a year earlier it was 1 to 3.2.

As 40ton.net points out, the war in Ukraine, which limited the flow of drivers from there, led to such a change in the drivers' labor market.

At the same time, a big role was played by sanctions against Belarus - the ban on Belarusian carriers from moving around the European Union.

This forced many drivers to leave Belarusian companies and look for work with carriers registered in Poland.
