The ambassadors of the countries of the European Union reached an agreement this evening to impose a price ceiling on petroleum products from Russia.

This was announced by the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU, BTA reported.

It is specified that the final decision on this issue is expected from the European Council next week.

This is an important step of the European response to the war launched by Russia against Ukraine, the announcement added.

The new measure is expected to come into effect in April.
