In December 2022, producer prices rose by 1.2 percent in the EU and by 1.1 percent in the euro area compared to the previous month, reports Eurostat.

In November 2022, prices decreased by 0.9 percent in the EU and by 1 percent in the euro area compared to October.

In December 2022, producer prices increased by 25.2 percent in the EU and by 24.6 percent in the euro area on an annual basis.

Average annual producer prices for 2022 compared to 2021 rose by 34.3 percent in the EU and by 34.4 percent in the euro area.

EU producer prices in December 2022 compared to November 2022 rose by 2.9 percent in the energy sector, by 0.5 percent in non-durable consumer goods, by 0.4 percent in consumer durables and by 0 .3 percent for capital goods, and prices for intermediate goods decreased by 0.5 percent.

Total producer prices, excluding energy, fell by 0.1 percent. 

Producer prices in the euro area increased by 2.5 percent in the energy sector, by 0.5 percent in non-durable consumer goods, by 0.4 percent in consumer durables and by 0.3 percent in capital goods, and prices for intermediate goods decreased by 0.5 percent.

Total producer prices, excluding energy, decreased by 0.1 percent. 

The largest monthly increase in producer prices was recorded in Ireland (+43.2 percent), Bulgaria (+6 percent) and Sweden (+4.4 percent), and the largest decline was recorded in Portugal (-3, 2 percent), Croatia (-2.6 percent) and Slovakia (-2.5 percent).

Producer prices in the EU in December 2022 compared to December 2021 increased by 49.6 percent in the energy sector, by 16.7 percent in non-durable consumer goods, by 14 percent in intermediate goods, by 9.9 in percent for consumer durables and 7.7 percent for capital goods.

Total producer prices, excluding energy, increased by 12.8 percent.

Producer prices in the euro area rose by 48.6 percent in the energy sector, by 15.6 percent in non-durable consumer goods, by 13.8 percent in intermediate goods, by 9.7 percent in consumer durables and by 7 .5 percent for capital goods. Total producer prices, excluding energy, rose 12.3 percent. 

Producer prices increased in all member countries, with Hungary (+62.7 per cent), Latvia (+49.4 per cent) and Romania (+41.9 per cent) recording the largest growth.
