Sugarcane farmers in Kilombero district, Morogoro region, have complained about the lack of trust in the Kilombero Sugar Factory because of the way they measure the sweetness level of the sugarcane they bring to the factory, which is given a small payment for claims that the sweetness is low.

The complaints were made today in the district here by sugar cane farmers in front of the General Secretary of the Revolutionary Party (CCM), Daniel Chongolo continuing his visit to Morogoro region to review the implementation of the CCM manifesto, to review the vitality of the party and to strengthen it at the grassroots level.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Kilombero, Kilombero Member of Parliament, Abubakar Assenga, said the biggest challenge is the conflict between sugarcane farmers and the Kilombero factory.

"The biggest problem is the sweetness level of sugarcane (Sucrose), the payment of the farmer who goes to sell his sugarcane at the factory depends on the sweetness of the sugarcane, now when measuring, no farmer is given the opportunity to know but he is told that the sweetness of the sugarcane is low and the payment is small," he said. Assenga.

He said that the crisis is long-term and many leaders have passed, but the problem is still there.

Speaking about the problems and complaints, Chongolo has asked the Morogoro Regional Commissioner to make arrangements with the Agricultural Cooperatives and Trade Associations (Amcos), select individual farmers to be taught how to measure the level of sweetness of sugar, in order to eliminate complaints theirs.
