Dr. Bashiru has said this while contributing to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Water, in parliament in Dodoma today January 31, 2023

He said that hunger degrades the dignity and freedom of the country, hunger destroys a person's personality, so the problem of food price inflation is a problem that must increase the level of creativity

"Due to inflation, people have to make a long pass, that is, morning tea is drunk between five and six o'clock, and lunch is eaten between 11 o'clock and 12 o'clock, this is done to deal with inflation.

He said, if citizens are becoming creative in fighting life, the government has to increase the scope of creativity to deal with the inflation of food prices

 In addition, Dr. Bashiru, concluding his opinion, left questions as follows: how much has the subsidy for fertilizers, oil, and seeds reduced the rate of food inflation?

How much has the lack of 'Lockdown' reduced the intensity of food inflation?

If there is a control on the export of food, who benefits and if the food is exported, who does the permission benefit?

Dr. Bashiru's statement has come with a big price inflation, a kilo of Beans being sold for 4,000 shs from 2,000 to 2,500 shillings while a kilo of rice is sold between 3,800 and 4,500

According to the NBS, general inflation grew to 4.3 percent in 2022 compared to 3.7 percent in 2021 and 3.3 percent in 2020.

There is an increase in food prices, for example, a 100 kg sack of rice is sold for an average of Sh312,921 compared to Sh202,353 last year.

A sack of beans has reached Sh318,947, an increase of 55 percent from that of last year which was Sh203,118 according to the food price report of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade
