A green comet known as C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is approaching Earth and was captured on Wednesday from an area near Dreber in northern Germany, DPA reported.

The comet, which approaches Earth once every 50,000 years, will be closest to our planet on February 1.

Then it will be at a distance of 42 million kilometers - a third of the distance between the Earth and the Sun.

The most favorable period for its observation will probably be in late January, when there will be weaker moonlight, but if the weather is favorable.

With more luck, the comet will also be visible to the naked eye, and it will certainly be possible to observe it with binoculars or a telescope.

The comet was photographed Wednesday from Germany with a large-aperture, long-exposure lens, with the camera pointed north.

The celestial body with a tail about 50,000 km long and shimmering in green.

According to the German Aerospace Center, the green color is the result of gas formed under the influence of heat from the sun's rays.
