[Financial Channel/Comprehensive Report] South Korean prosecutors indicted five former Samsung employees and other suspects suspected of stealing data and selling semiconductor cleaning equipment manufacturing technology to China.

According to the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office on Monday (16th), they arrested and prosecuted two former employees of Semes, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, as well as a broker and a head of a subcontractor for violating the Unfair Competition Prevention Act; Another subcontractor worker was also charged without pretrial detention.

A former Semes employee who left the company in 2016 is accused of stealing blueprints of a cleaning device developed by Semes in June 2021 through the head of a subcontractor who allegedly received 380 million won in investment as kickbacks .

The former Samsung employee, who received 160 million won through a broker, allegedly tried to sell 10 blueprints using stolen manufacturing equipment and leaked the information to a Chinese company.

However, the prosecution investigation noted that those deliveries never took place.
