[Financial Channel/Comprehensive Report] Citing network security issues, the US state of Kentucky has also joined the ranks of more than 20 states to ban the use of Chinese short video and video software TikTok on government equipment.

According to comprehensive media reports, Kentucky stated that it has updated its employee handbook to prohibit all state government employees from using government-managed devices to access TikTok unless it is for "law enforcement purposes."

Wisconsin and North Carolina also signed similar executive orders on Thursday (12th), as did Ohio, New Jersey and Arkansas earlier this week.

The scope of some state bans is not limited to TikTok, such as New Jersey and Wisconsin, they also ban all suppliers, products and services from China, including Huawei, Hikvision, Tencent, ZTE, and another located in Russia Kaspersky Lab is also on the banned list.

TikTok said in response: "It's disappointing that so many states are joining the political bandwagon with policies that do nothing to advance cybersecurity in their states and are based on baseless lies about TikTok."

After FBI Director Christopher Wray said in November last year that TikTok posed a threat to national security, calls to ban TikTok from government devices grew.
